This is a stove top espresso coffee maker that works by brewing coffee through steam pressurized water. It is often otherwise called as an espresso coffee pot by some coffee drinkers. The espresso pot is commonly used in Europe, most likely since it was “born” there. This stove top brewer was first invented and patented by Alfonso Bialetti in 1933. Being the pioneer in developing the first Moka pot, Bialetti has become the number one brand of espresso maker over any other brand of coffee machines.

Pour filtered water in the bottom, freshly ground coffee beans goes in the center section and the top chamber is where the brewed coffee ends. Once the three sections are screwed together they function as a single piece. Steam pressure pushes the hot water upward through the center chamber and forces it upward into the top waiting decanter. While in the brewing process the moka pot will gurgle, spits, and hisses letting you know that it is working hard to give you the best coffee. When the noise stops your coffee is done.

When the espresso finishes brewing pour half of it into the mixing container and add with the sugar mixture. Begin stirring rapidly to make a frothy topping. Once this mix is finished pour the rest of the espresso from the stainless steel espresso maker into the mixing container and stir very quickly again.

This step will take practice but will make a very nice thick foam similar to crema. Pour the finished mix into a heated espresso cup. You can use a spoon to scoop the foam out and into the cups.

If you follow these rules listed below, you will ensure a great cup of Joe!

Fill the bottom container below the safety valve (or it will explode)

Use filtered water. Do not user tap water especially if it is very chlorinated

Use a good quality finely ground coffee and put in the container but remember not to overfill

Never pack down the coffee

Put on medium heat or low heat NEVER high

Do not let the coffee boil, as soon as coffee reaches the top, remove from heat

Throw away the first 2 or 3 batches of coffee ( you may want to just use water only, no coffee beans) before first use to prevent any aluminum flavor.

To assure a long life to the Moka Express:

Never under any circumstances use high heat

Rinse the components with warm water, Never use the dishwasher

Towel dry with a soft towel

Make sure it is completely dry before storing away

Store parts seperated, do not put it together unless you are going to use it.

You will want to replace the rubber seals once in a while

Just remember that all seals must be tight, this machine operates on pressure.

I hope you enjoy your new Bialetti stainless steel espresso maker!
